The sole purpose of this trip was mainly for the Disneyland Half Marathon, but since we were going to be there for the the weekend, we got three-day passes again and explored some new territory we haven’t been before. Dianne was also able to hang out with us for a day =)

Disney’s Castaway Cay 5k … and the island itself!

IMG_4548

There’s no better way to see the Disney island of Castaway Cay then to run a 5k first thing in the morning!

I saw this run mentioned on different Disney forums while I was researching before the cruise and was super excited for it. We registered soon after getting on the ship, but they also allow people to register on the day of. Just make sure you have an ID and your room key. I think kids are allowed to register also. I forget the age limit, but there were kids around 10 years old that were running twice as fast as I was!

Espetus Churrascaria – San Mateo, CA

IMG_0031

For Alex’s 25th Birthday, we went to Espetus Churrascaria for dinner. EJ made reservations two weeks before for 5:30pm on a Thursday night. Seems early, but we work night shift, so it worked out perfectly with our schedules. This also seemed like a good time because when 6:30pm hit, a rush of people came in. I’m sure the rush will be worse on a weekend.

SoCal Eats – PokiNometry and PopBar

IMG_5570

EJ and I love to eat!  My brother, Alex, too! So when he told me about this place in Anaheim that sells “poke bowls,” I was sold. He texted me a picture of his order and I had to have it. When we got to Anaheim for my birthday weekend, PokiNometry was our first stop. I thought my order was delicious and next time I could go for a large instead. I love seafood, and sashimi, which is what this is very similar to. I can’t wait to go again!

On our last park day, we just relaxed and did whatever else we didn’t get a chance to do the first two days. We got most of the stuff we really wanted to do while we were with Dianne.

Disneyland 2014 – Day Two: Breakfast with Celebrities

On the second day of our Disneyland weekend, I made reservations at the Plaza Inn for breakfast. I’ve done character dining at Goofy’s Kitchen in the Disneyland Hotel, but this was my first time at the Plaza Inn. I love it! Goofy’s Kitchen has a larger variety of buffet, but Plaza Inn had more characters, is cheaper, and is located inside the park. I love both, but I thought Plaza Inn was more convenient for us that weekend. Continue reading

Disneyland 2014 – Day One: My Birthday

DSC_5698

This year for my birthday, my husband surprised me with a trip to Disneyland! I haven’t been to there during summer in a while. We normally like to go in November when the weather is cooler and the holiday decorations are up. Kids are usually also in school at that time, so it’s not as crowded as it normally would be.
